Lori Vallow Daybell sentenced to life in prison without parole

Judge Steven Boyce sentenced Lori Vallow Daybell to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Lori was found guilty of 1st-degree murder, conspiracy and burglary for the deaths of JJ Vallow, Tylee Ryan and Tammy Daybell, Chad Daybell's then-wife, after a six-week trial in Ada County. Lori received her sentencing on Monday.

Victim impact letters and victim testimony were heard before Judge Boyce during the sentencing. Those who spoke include Colby Ryan, Kay Woodcock and Vicki Hoban. Prosecutor Rob Wood spoke to the court in making his sentencing recommendation saying, "no matter how we look at what we're doing here today, we are assigning a value to the lives that were taken. The defendant assigned a value of zero."

Wood went on to recap several parts of the trial and the process that led up to Lori's arrest through the investigation, including thousands of hours spent in the search for JJ and Tylee. "This defendant broke the most sacred trust in our society. She murdered her own children, and she did it for financial gain. She is a danger to our society, being directly responsible for 3 murders in Idaho in the span of six-weeks."

Rob Wood recommended a sentence of life in prison without parole. "Some crimes in society are so heinous, you simply lose your place among us."

Judge Boyce spoke before delivering the sentence, noting that Lori did not participate in the pre-trial investigation, which limited the information available to him prior to delivering his sentencing. Judge Boyce, speaking bluntly prior to rendering the sentence, said "you had so many options available to you," in regards to not wanting her children anymore, "but you chose the most destructive path possible."

Arizona has started the process to extradite Lori for the murder of Charles Vallow, her previous husband.
