How To Get Until Its Return (& God Roll)

Destiny 2’s recently introduced weapon Until Its Return is a great Legendary shotgun for PvE activities. Here’s how to get it and its best perks.

The Until Its Return shotgun in Destiny 2 has been proven to be an excellent option for PvE activities since its release. The Legendary Kinetic weapon was first introduced with the online shooter’s Season of the Deep, also known as Season 21. While shotguns usually tend to work very well in PvP activities, as they can normally one-shot Guardians at a close range – making them indispensable for players with high mobility – Until Its Return goes in the opposite direction and excels at eliminating mobs and dealing damage to bosses.

As a Kinetic slot shotgun, Until Its Return uses Special Ammo, so its usage is limited. The shotgun fires rounds of Strand damage, making it an excellent ally for Strand builds in Destiny 2, especially those that get up close and personal against opponents in PvE. When paired up with the shotgun’s God Roll, that synchronization is improved even further. Luckily, obtaining it is also quite simple, provided players know where and how to get Until Its Return.

As a seasonal weapon from Season of the Deep, the Until Its Return shotgun in Destiny 2 drops exclusively from related activities. This means that players can drop this weapon by engaging in Salvage and Deep Dive activities. In addition, the weapon is also part of the loot pool for the Deep Engrams. This means that players who obtain them can decrypt the engrams at the Sonar Station at H.E.L.M. for a chance of pulling the shotgun.

After players get their first copy of Until Its Return, they can focus-decrypt Deep Engrams at the Sonar Station for a guaranteed copy of the weapon. This shotgun has a chance of coming with Deepsight Resonance, which ultimately opens up the possibility of crafting it. Players will first have to obtain the full pattern by extracting weapon patterns in Destiny 2. Once this is complete, players can use The Enclave at Savathûn’s Throne World to shape Until Its Return and work toward the weapon’s God Roll more easily.

As a PvE-focused weapon, the barrel for Until Its Return in Destiny 2 should increase its handling and stability rather than range. The magazine should increase its size and further improve the weapon’s effectiveness on the field, sacrificing range if necessary. The first trait should either be Overflow, to further improve the magazine’s capacity, or Threat Detector, to make it more effective within enemy range. The second trait can either be Trench Barrel if players use their melee frequently or Surrounded if they are using it at close quarters.

Vorpal Weapon is an excellent trait but should only be chosen if this weapon is destined to deal damage against lesser bosses. If this is the case, then Until Its Return should be used in easier activities, as these elite targets in high-end activities tend to one-shot players if they are too close. At the moment, Until Its Return is one of the best shotguns for PvE activities in Destiny 2, so it may be worth investing in its God Roll.
